Friends of Betty Wright say she has quite a track record for helping others. Now they want to band together and return the favor. But the thing of it is, that just doesn't sit well with Wright, the 88-year-old secretary of Easton Place United Methodist Church.
Betty Jo Goldsmith, 85, died Sunday, April 6, 2008, at Lakeside Nursing Center in Lake City. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Lake Charles, La. She was a member of the DAR Lake Charles Chapter and of the UDC Robert E. Lee Chapter of Lake Charles.

Relatives of a Bahamian who is incarcerated in Cuba are accusing the Cuban government of discrimination against Bahamians jailed in Cuba. According to the family of one of the inmates, other foreigners who are serving 20 to 30-year sentences are being released in a shorter time frame than their Bahamian counterparts, who have been imprisoned for similar charges.
