In recent years, Black Francis has been perhaps a little too prolific for his own good, releasing a stream of albums marked as much by a shaky grasp of quality control as by the dizzying brilliance of his original Pixies work.
Black Lips are a psychedelic freak-out filtered through distortion pedal garage rock. Like a car with snapped brake cables, Black Lips careen out of control, as if they could fly apart or crash at any moment; they are a raucous whirl of a punk band.
WHY stop with the Forum for Black Journalists (FBJ)? Why not rather gladden the ghosts of DF Malan, JG Strijdom, HF Verwoerd et al and go the whole hog?
A new book concerning Ghosts and ghost hunting has reported that Pride Park has a rather unusual ghost, a large Black dog! The book written by psychic Philip Solomon and is entitled "Haunted Derby".
It's hard not to notice that during the last year and a half, Tulsa's local music movement has taken on a new life. Sure, the old stalwarts are still hammering away: The Plumbers, Imzadi and Snapdragon continue to draw the covers crowd; Red Dirt and Honky Tonk still have The Rangers, Boland and LaRu By Gary Hizer.
